Jeff Pearlman, father of one of the superheroes, explained the costume's message to Buzzfeed, saying, "There’s just so much hostility in the air and in this election season." He continued on to say that “this was just a refreshing, innocent reminder that we don’t have to be this way. We do not have to let this divisiveness take over right now.”"

Casey Pearlman and Yasmin Idris, the geniuses behind the costume, told Buzzfeedwhat they hoped to achieve with their creation.

Casey explained why she thinks the tweet has gone viral, saying “I think a lot of people find it really interesting that kids are standing up against a lot of what’s happening in the media and the world right now. People were impressed that kids realize that and want to change something."

When asked what the superpower of the Juslims, Yasmin responded, "To watch each other's back."
